On the morning of September 29, the Ocean Museum Germany invited guests to a ceremony at St. Jakobi Cultural Church in Stralsund, not far from the MEERESMUSEUM. The invited guests were welcomed with the visually stunning performance “CARIBE!” by Bernardo San Rafael's dancers, accompanied by the electronic sounds of musician “59 Perlen.” In the piece, created especially for the occasion by dancer and marine biologist San Rafael, the artists moved amid around 6,000 colorful shoelaces symbolizing the tropical underwater world (Excerpt of the the official press release - read full text here https://www.deutsches-meeresmuseum.de...)

I had the honor of providing the musical backdrop for Bernardo's latest installation. The entire performance lasts around 40 minutes, but only 10 minutes of this were part of the festival program, with the remaining 30 minutes taking place during admission. However, this video shows a short excerpt from the admission segment followed by the main part, “Caribe!”

This project was special in many ways. Not only the installation itself, but also the live situation with numerous prominent guests and film crews present raised the stress level to a new level.

Absolutely nothing could go wrong here, so I played it safe and produced and played the main part of the composition on the Polyend Tracker. This also had the advantage that I could work on the piece on site anytime and anywhere, apart from rehearsals. I love this thing!

Before and after the main part, you can hear an improvised piece on the Solar 42F and the Soma Cosmos. I may also upload the first part of the performance, the “entrance music.”
