First Tonverk jam, Sep 18 2025 | Tonverk
I am alive! Storytime as usual! Long story short, after diving heavily into the Oxi One a lot, I came away with the conclusion that I simply can't use external sequencers. The disconnect between the sequence and the machines generating the sound does something to my brain and I just can't write music. Too bad, because the OXI One Mk2 is definitely a beast, probably the best sequencer out there.
Anyway, as often happens in my time of need, Elektron reached down their golden hand and revealed a lovely new device that fits the empty hole in my setup, this time the Tonverk :) This is my kind of sampler, as I'm not much of a samples guy but when you give me polyphony and tons of crazy FX to mangle sounds with, I'm a happy camper.
This jam is a very quick and simple one slapped together in a short time with factory presets that I messed with a bit afterward. It's a steep learning curve, and definitely pretty buggy and missing some basic features, but it's already tons of fun and I'm in love with it, and I have no doubt it will continue to improve and be another timeless machine. (I even found a husk of an in-development granulator FX in one of the factory patterns which I shared on Elektronauts, hope that comes to fruition!)
Honestly the midi sync and pattern changing over midi even is pretty borked right now so I can basically only use it solo, but I'm sure they are working away on that and it's just what us early adopters get, like all new gear.
Excited to get back into the fun of music instead of overanalyzing and getting mentally stuck. Lets throw some crap through FX and call it a day :)
