Second Sun
Second Sun is a brand new musical project by Copenhagen based musician and producer Jacob Rasmussen, which presents ambient electronic soundscapes, cinematic impressions, and ethereal textures composed and performed on modular synthesizers. With more than 15 years of experience as a performing musician, and with roots in genres as diverse as indie rock, dream pop, psychedelic rock and folk, Rasmussen originally discovered his love for electronic music through artists such as Nils Frahm, Kiasmos, and Massive Attack. He soon found himself diving deep into minimal techno, ambient electronic, dark ambient, and more.
The sound of Second Sun initially started during the first pandemic lockdown, where he discovered an immediate love for minimal and ambient music. Through a growing passion for modular synthesizers, flow state improvisation, as well as an insatiable hunger for exploring the creative field between human and machine, Second Sun was born.
Second Sun mainly works with modular synths, tape, and similar hardware equipment. His creative process is intuitive, exploratory and reflective, and usually revolves around creating atmospheres and sonic spaces. The result is a deep dive into distant galaxies of sound, fragile melancholic melodies, and immersive auditive explorations.
