Shimura
Shimura is an electronic musician based in the UK.
A DJ since the nineties, he started writing his own music in March 2021. Influenced by the unfolding pandemic, he began experimenting with mixtapes built from sci-fi and horror soundtracks. His creative journey led him to his first synth, the Lyra 8 (SOMA). Constructing soundscapes in the absence of a rigid musical framework - the embodiment of the SOMA philosophy - was incredibly liberating, particularly given his background in classical music where he played the piano. He has since progressed to the Pulsar-23 and modular.
Shimura now creates generative beat structures underscored by immersive drones, and spanning multiple genres. He records tracks live from the hardware, fully embracing the raw dynamics of the DAWless approach.
