Hexwave - ‘Kern’ Album Out Now!
Hexwave's debut album 'Kern' is now out through Petite Victory Collective.
Here’s some words from our man concerning this debut full length: “Kern is a concept album of sorts, heavily inspired by the novel Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. It follows the dark and spiraling path of Doctor Avandra Kern and the series of unimaginable events that happen to and around her. I will leave it to you to find out the details, as I can only highly recommend the read.
The album began with several quick jams put together while reading the novel during January of 2023. From there, select starting points were taken and transformed over a couple weeks each into full songs with the concept of this album decided from the beginning. It goes some dark and heavy places of course, but there are moments of reprieve in some lighter or contemplative tracks.
The final track is a remix of Here It's All Over by Rome In Reverse, done as part of a contest in her honor through Petite Victory Collective. When the final results (though quite different from her fantastic original composition) ended up sounding like a perfect ender, even with the name, I knew it was a fit and I thank Antonella for graciously letting me use it on this album.
Everything was composed with the Syntakt, Digitakt, and Minifreak together as a unit.
I hope you will listen and let your imagination go wild, and if you ever decide to read the book, I hope you feel that it is a good companion piece.”
